Evolution Golf

Over the past few months, the golf industry in India has been making modest efforts to package together various golf conferences, summits and forums. All genuinely commendable efforts, but somebody in my opinion is missing something. I say this without singling out any of the organizers making these initiatives. Have any of them even assessed how the industry must embark towards making radical and revolutionary changes that will alter how the game is played, promoted and developed?

Golf is today one of the fastest growing sports in the world, in popularity terms second only to football, with our Indian golfers winning on various world tours and prize money at events regularly increasing, corporate spends into golf in India being second to cricket, everyone wants to learn the sport and have their children play too. But, how do they learn, and where ? This is a question that a million Indians have, and each one feels isolated not knowing where and how to start.

As the golf industry evolves in India we all notice there are some lovely gated communities being planned that are at various stages of construction, some of them located in stunning locations. Remarkable as it seems, the developers and investors are all looking at setting up medium to large sized gated communities centered around a golf course. Yes, the golf course is the centre piece of most of these developments.
